If you don't want to go to college you can:
Build Your Own Presence: Create a professional, account on one or two platforms to practice content creation, scheduling, and engagement, build your presence to become appealing to places that might value your skills.
Develop Technical Skills: Learn tools for scheduling and analytics like Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later. Familiarize yourself with basic graphic design and video editing to build credibility.
Gain Real Experience: Offer to manage social media for free for small businesses, non-profits, or friends to build a portfolio.
Network and Apply: Join LinkedIn groups, follow businesses, and look for entry-level positions like "Social Media Coordinator" or "Assistant"
If you want to take the college route you can get a degree in social media marketing by taking a route like a bachelor’s in Marketing/Communication with a concentration in Social Media which would provide foundational skills in content strategy, analytics, and brand management
Big colleges that are particularly good if you want to get into this field would be
University of Florida: Which offers a Master of Arts in Mass Communication with a Social Media concentration. This 36-credit, 16-month online program.
Arizona State University: Which is known to be a good place to get a certificate, bachelor's, and master's in social media marketing or digital marketing.
Southern New Hampshire University: Offers a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a focus on Social Media Marketing, which is a more affordable and flexible online option in comparison to the other two.
